Syosset families to enjoy shockingly good time
An electrifying experience is on the way for Syosset families, and it will explore a variety of STEM subjects in a way that should be fun and engaging for all.
The Science Museum of Long Island has plans for a workshop that will introduce electricity, and kids are welcome to attend along with a parent or guardian. Members and non-members alike can register for the session, and the participation fee starts at $15.
The hands-on learning opportunity will see kids pick up some of the basics of harnessing electricity by creating an assortment of simple power circuits, and resistors and switches will be included in the design. Everyone can view the Van de Graff generator and learn how it works, and the function will wrap up with some crafting where the kids will prepare light-up paper circuits.
It was noted that for the safety of all, masks are required to enter the museum. Offering participants in an in-person activity a set of themed promotional products can help to make an activity even more fun, and a local print shop will have lots of ideas to choose from.
The Science Museum of Long Island will be hosting this “shocking” experience for kids and parents on Sunday, January 9th. It will start at 10:00 am, and wrap up at 11:30 am.
