Presentation to provide tips for attracting pollinators
Syosset gardeners have been invited to be part of an event that will focus on welcoming an important group of creatures to the garden.
As the days become warm with the arrival of spring, bees and other pollinators will be searching for food after a long winter. A flower garden can offer them food, shelter, and a place to raise their families.
Rebecca McMackin, who is an author and horticulturist, will be sharing her knowledge and experience during Homecoming Farm’s ‘Spring Awakening’ celebration. She will discuss pollinators and their role in the ecosystem, and share tips for attracting them to a residential landscape.
During her presentation, McMackin will discuss the different types of pollinators such as bees, birds, butterflies, beetles, flies, and other insects and how they can be encouraged to take of residence. She will explain why this is so important and also how even a small patch can make a big difference.
Along with the presentation, the guests will receive a tour of the farm’s beehives, so long as the weather permits. Lunch will be served, and the attendees can mingle and share horticultural tips. An event like this can be an excellent way for a plant lover to add to their overall horticultural knowledge, and a flyer printing company can help to spread the word about when and where it will be on offer.
May 4 has been selected to be the date for this welcome to spring and the pollinators that come with it. It will be taking place at 555 Albany Avenue in Amityville.
