The three teenagers participated in the Society's first annual fundraiser and were the team that brought in the greatest amount. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society did not disclose the specific amounts raised by each team, but more than $168,000 was raised over the course of the six-week fundraiser.
The victorious teenagers were Bradley Mussman and Evan Jaslow, juniors at Roslyn High School, and Zachary Luchs, a sophomore at Syosset High School. Along with earning the title of ‘Students of the Year’, the team took home a $2,500 scholarship.

Speaking to Newsday, the executive director of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Long Island Chapter, Sara Lipsky, had nothing but praise for the work of the students. She stated:
“These students are an inspiration to all of us, as they are truly making a difference and helping to cure blood cancers — not someday but today.”
Two students from Valley Stream North High School, Clara Leyendecker and Laila Drosman, were named the runner-up for raising the second largest amount.
Another three students each took home scholarships of £500 for making what the society described as "significant contributions" to efforts towards curing blood cancers.
