Students near Lindenhurst chosen for scholarships

A group of 11 high school students recently received scholarships from the Babylon Industrial Development Agency to help them continue their education in tech.

Each of the graduating students lives in the Town of Babylon, which includes the village of Lindenhurst. The students each received $500 to be put towards the cost of their continuing education. The scholarships were presented during an awards ceremony that was attended by members of the Babylon Industrial Development Agency board, and by Jacki Gordon – a councilwoman for the town.

Organizations that give out scholarships to high school students can use Mailing services to get the word out about the opportunity to students that live in the area.

Speaking to Patch, Brendan Murphy, a spokesperson for the Babylon Industrial Development Agency, stated:

"[The organization is] proud to provide these hardworking and well-deserving students with some financial assistance to help support their future academic endeavors. These students represent the future of our workforce and their dedication to learning ever-important skills will greatly contribute to Long Island’s developing economy.”

The goal of the scholarship program is to reinforce the agency's commitment to creating opportunities for success and growth for people who live within the Town of Babylon. The agency hopes that the yearly scholarship encourages students to make a contribution to the workforce while recognizing what the students have already accomplished.
