Next week, the 3rd Annual LI Goth Prom: A Post-Punk Formal will take place in Lindenhurst, calling all the post-punk rockers and goths out there looking for a fun and delightfully strange night.
The organizer of the prom is The Perks Department, a unique event organizing company that specializes in planning punk and goth-related events in Long Island. The group is the founder of the LI Goth Prom and has collaborated with The Great All Nighter to host the annual Black Friday alternative craft fair and pop-up market.
The prom will feature themes from the goth, new wave, and post-punk subcultures, and will be held in honor of it being halfway to Halloween. Organizers encourage attendees to dress in formalwear with a goth/punk or Halloween flair. The Goth Punk Jukebox will be spinning out the best of Joy Division, Siouxsie and the Banshees, the Damned, and many more familiar names. There will be spiked punch, non-alcoholic beverages, and food available for purchase. A costume contest will reward those who dress the best.
The venues of dance events like this are often decorated with colorful Banners. Organizers can get printed at local Print shops offering special banner printing services.
The goth/punk prom is scheduled for next Friday, May 3 from 6:00 pm to midnight. It will be held at Sand City Brewing, which is located at 150 South Wellwood Avenue. Tickets are $28.52.
