The upcoming Spellman High Voltage Electronics Clean Tech Competition has extended its deadline for submissions.
The contest aims to help students develop skills in the STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) subjects while also attempting to solve a real-world problem. This year’s theme is ‘Solving Climate Change’.
Students from Lindenhurst High School and across the US are invited to apply for the program, and to identify climate change-related problems, then develop a tech solution for those problems, with finals to be held at a nearby university.
Organizations that put together programs for students can use flyer printing to get the word out and to make students aware of any changes in the program's deadlines or requirements.
The Center for Science Teaching & Learning recently extended the deadline for applications to the competition. Students now have until March 30 to submit a proposal.
Applications can be from high school students between the ages of 15 and 18. Students can work individually or on teams of up to three people.
The finals for the competition will be held at Stony Brook University on July 12. The 10 top finalists will receive cash prizes. The winners will take home $10,000 and will get to travel to Rome, Italy to present at the World Congress on Climate Change, scheduled for September.
