The Lindenhurst Memorial Library will be providing an opportunity for student volunteers to help those stationed overseas by sending coupons to offer financial support.
The Troopon program is one of the Support Our Troops programs that takes unused coupons and sends them to soldiers overseas to be used on their base. Manufacturing coupons are unavailable in the newspapers and magazines where troops are stationed at, but stores found on military bases can still use them to offer people much-needed discounts on various products.
Residents in the United States can send their coupons to the sorting facility in Daytona Beach, Florida, where administrators distribute the deals worldwide. Internet coupons are unable to be accepted, so it is recommended that volunteers and donors get their coupons from advertisements made in Print shops instead.
Students who come to the Lindenhurst Memorial Library will be spending their time cutting out the deals from newspapers and other advertisements, and then will separate the coupons into different categories. Coupons are categorized by food, non-food, baby, and pet baggies so that they are easier to distribute.
The Trooponers volunteering opportunity will be held at the Lindenhurst Memorial Library on April 29 from 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm for students in grades 6 to 12. All participants will be given one hour of community service. Registration for the event will start on April 15.
