Lindenhurst folk invited to lunch for a cure

Residents of Lindenhurst and the surrounding area will soon have the chance to combine helping a good cause with enjoying a fine time.

The Neuroendocrine Cancer Awareness Network is holding its first ‘Uncork a Cure’ awareness event at Osprey Dominion Vineyards in Peconic. The event will feature lunch and a wine tasting from the vineyard's selection of vintages.

The luncheon is the first time the awareness network has worked with the vineyard, although it is not the first time the organization has hosted a fundraiser or planned an awareness event. Founded in 2004, the Neuroendocrine Cancer Awareness Network has offered support and information to patients with cancer and to their caregivers through its website, over email, and via a phone hotline, which is open from 9:00 am until 9:00 pm, 365 days a year.

When hosting luncheons or similar events, organizations can use Flyers to spread the word to area residents and businesses. Flyers can contain specific details about the event, such as start time, cost, and what is included.

The Uncork a Cure event will start at noon on August 27 and go until 4:00 pm. Attendees can choose from a burger, chicken, or pulled pork, with three sides. The meal will also include a wine tasting with samples of three beverages. Each person attending the event will be given a bottle of wine to take home.

Advanced registration is required, and tickets cost $75 per person. For $99, attendees can get a bus ride to and from the Bellmore train station, plus lunch and wine.
