Lindenhurst Board of Education awards members

At a recent meeting of the Lindenhurst Board of Education, members of the school board were recognized for the hard work they do and their commitment to serving the school district.

Also recognized during the Board of Education Community Forum was Robert Vitiello, a former member of the board. School boards and other organizations wishing to award the contributions of their members often use printing services to create award certificates and programs.

Vitiello served on the board of education as a trustee since 2001 and retired from the board in June of this year. He began his tenure as a trustee and went on to be the vice president at one point. For 17 years, he served as an advocate for the district's students and staff members.

One of Vitiello's most recent projects was establishing the Lindy Grad Vets Wall of Heroes, at the high school. The ‘Wall of Hereos’ recognizes Lindenhurst alumni and other community members who serve their country, or have done previously.

Vitiello announced his retirement during the June community forum for the school board. Speaking to the Lindenhurst Patch, Daniel E. Giordano, the school district's superintendent, said:

"Although he is no longer a member of the board, the result of his endless dedicated effort will be felt for years to come."

The mayor of Lindenhurst, Michael Lavorata, named October 18 as Robert Vitiello Day.
