Colonies come alive at weekend event

Sagtikos Manor, which is located in Bay Shore, New York and dates back to 1697, was used as a base by British forces during the Revolution. The site is set to celebrate some of that heritage with a Fall Festival.

Guests will have the opportunity to see what life during the 1700s was like. The 1775 3rd New York Regiment, a reenactment group, will be performing maneuvers that military groups of the time used. Demonstrators will be showing guests how medicine and surgical procedures from the time worked. There will also be demonstrations of Old English Country Dancing, puppet shows from that era, and games for children from the time.

Visitors can explore the nearby cemetery and learn about the families who are interred there. The manor itself will also be open, and people can take self-guided tours of the house and the grounds.

Organizers for this event may want to contact printing companies to create promotional materials like Flyers or Posters that they can distribute in nearby areas, such as Lindenhurst, to draw in more crowds.

The Fall Festival begins tomorrow, October 5, at 11:00 am and runs until 4:00 pm. The Sagtikos Manor will be open for tours beginning at noon. There is a $7 admission fee which will allow guests access to all parts of the event.
