Cars compete in North Babylon

Gearheads who live near North Babylon, New York are going to be in for a treat this weekend.

The Lions Club of North Babylon will be hosting a car show in conjunction with Stacks Auto Repair as part of the town's street fair. Attendees can enter their cars into an awards competition or simply view the cars on display. There will be three awards handed out to those in the competition, and those are Best In Show, the People's Choice, and the Kids' Choice.

Those who enjoy derby racing will also have the opportunity to compete in a Wood Derby race for a $500 prize. Racers will be in charge of providing their own derby vehicles, but the race is open to all ages. The car show and fair are free, but there is a $10 admission fee to the derby race for adults and a $5 fee for children 17 or younger.

The Lions Club is an international organization that tries to galvanize community members to take part in helping the blind, protecting the environment, helping the sick or elderly, and other humanitarian and public service works.

Organizers from the North Babylon chapter may reach out to printing companies to help promote this event. Handing out Flyers in nearby towns like Lindenhurst could draw in more attendees.

The Car Show runs from noon until 6:00 pm on Sunday, May 18. Anyone wishing to have their car displayed in the competition must have the car on the lot by 11:00 am.
