Next month, a local school will be hosting its annual reunion in its own special way.
Plenty of high school students have friends in the grades above or below their class, and to help former Lindenhurst High School students reunite with each other more effectively that at the traditional single-year events, Jimbo Barbino has hosted the ‘Any Year Reunion’ for the past seven years.
Alumni from Lindenhurst High School are welcome to attend the event, no matter when they graduated. More than 1,000 alumni attended last year's reunion, according to the Facebook event page. Attendees ranged from alumni who graduated in 1956 to former students who graduated as recently as 2014. So far, more than 300 people have given a "yes" to the event via Facebook, and nearly 500 people have said they are interested in going.
Organizers of high school reunions typically use Stationery printers to produce and send out Invitations. Using Facebook is a quick and simple way for Barbino to spread the word of the reunion to a larger group, without having to get address information from the school.
This year's reunion is scheduled for August 6, and will take place at the Venetian Shore Beach Hut starting at 5pm. The event is casual, there is no dress code, and attendees are invited to bring their own food and drink.
