Three young residents of Washington Township—Edwin Hicks and Carmine Palladino of Washington Township High School and Michael Danovich of St. Augustine Prep—recently completed their Eagle Scout projects and were awarded their ranks and medals.

The awards were presented at a troop ceremony, with professional photographs that the young men could use for postcard printing.

Hicks, 17, is a junior at Washington Township High School. For his project, he reconditioned and reconstructed the Veterans Memorial Park in Washington Township. With the assistance of his team, they replaced rotting wood in a retaining wall, reinforced and reconstructed the calcium scaling on the brick wall that surrounds the memorial area, and painted.

Palladino, also a junior at Washington Township High School, took his project to St. Paul and St. Peter churches, located in Turnersville. His project involved refurbishing a prayer garden by replacing a vinyl fence, constructing benches, refurbishing statues, and planting low-maintenance plants.

Danovich, a junior at St. Augustine Prep, aged 17, completed his Eagle Scout project at Holy Ghost Byzantine Catholic Church. He first stripped and then painted 24 outside doors, and then refurbished the stage, railings, and main entrance at the hall. He also created a useable coat room.

All three young men have been members of the Boy Scouts of America for 11 years, and are members of Troop 123.
