The third annual Harvest Festival is about to take place in Washington Township, near Turnersville. According to the South Jersey Times’ interview with Festival show-runner Barbara Rippert, the event is set to offer fun for all ages.
According to Rippert, the day has lots of events planned for kids of all ages, especially for those who enjoy crafting. Stations sponsored by local Boy and Girl Scout groups will allow kids to make quilt patches and soft dolls, learn how to write with quill Pens, and enjoy painting pumpkins.
For history lovers, the festival includes tours of the historic buildings at the festival site, including the Olde Stone House, which some believe to be haunted. The commission’s dedicated volunteers will run tours of the house throughout the day. Nancy Webster, a hearthside cook from Williamsburg, will be on hand to brew apple cider and roast venison. According to Rippert, Webster is very experienced. The Piney Hollow Drifters will also provide music throughout the day, playing tunes that hark back to the 1700s and 1800s.
The event will not lack for vendors, with both historical crafters and modern sellers of products such as Avon and Thirty-One Bags. Vendors might choose to invest in business card printing before the festival to be able to give their contact information to festival attendees.
