People from Turnersville and the communities that surround it are invited to turn out in support of soldiers, sailors, marines, and members of the air force or coastguard.
The Carry the Fallen Ruck March for Active Heroes will see currently serving military members, as well as veterans and civilians, come together to march. All ages are welcome, and the course has been selected to be suitable for children in strollers, as well as those who need a wheelchair or other assistive device. The group will start together and remain side by side along the route.
The ‘Ruck’ in the name of the event reefers to the rucksack soldiers carry, and each participant will be asked to hold a weight that symbolizes the burden many former military members carry. The goal of the event to both show support and raise awareness about the issues facing veterans.
Monies raised will be used to help fund Active Heroes’ efforts to help former military members cope with PTSD and other operational stress injuries. Brochure printers can provide leaflets and other educational materials that can be used by the organizers of a function like this.
The Carry the Ruck march will be held on May 20 at the Haddon Fire Company in Haddonfield. It will begin at 9:00 am, and additional details can be found on the Town Planner website.
