Volunteers will go to the Town Hall on Tuesdays and Fridays to help individuals negotiate the tax system. Federal and state taxes will be dealt with.
The public library in Cherry Hill runs classes aimed at senior citizens. Information about the tax initiative could be provided via the library. Printing services in Turnersville could be employed to help advertise the scheme to new customers.
Chuck Cahn, the mayor of Cherry Hill, has said:
“Preparing your tax return can be complicated and time-consuming, and hiring an accountant can be expensive, especially for seniors living on fixed incomes.”
The policy of giving people help with their financial affairs has been going on for several years. In excess of 250 residents were catered for last year alone.
Mayor Cahn has added that he is proud that the area still has this service. Residents will have to remember a variety of documents to avail themselves of the opportunity.
The population of the district grew significantly between the 1950s and the 1980s, perhaps explaining why close-knit community includes a sizable number of senior citizens.
It should be noted that complex tax issues cannot be resolved with free local help, and tahat landlords and entrepreneurs may be obliged to use their own sources of advice.
