Turnersville families are being offered an opportunity to register their child for a hands-on activity in a few weeks’ time.

Camden County Library has created a schedule of virtual programming, and one of its workshops will explore water and how pollutants can be removed when it has been contaminated. The kids who take part will engage in active learning, and the supplies needed can be found in most homes.

The virtual activity will see learners from ages five to nine use common household items to clean an oil spill. The list of materials needed include cotton balls, a sponge, vegetable oil, food coloring, as well as a spoon and bowl, and its scheduled run time is half an hour. Parents or caregivers are welcome to look on and learn as well, and the organizers hope the session will spark an interest in the sciences.

Many libraries and other public institutions have had to find creative ways to continue offering programming in these times of social distancing and other safety measures. A brochure printing company will be able to help, and it can be called upon to prepare learning materials for pickup or mailout that supplement online educational workshops.

Camden County Library has invited families to sign up for this virtual workshop. It will be taking place on March 18, with registration closing on Thursday, March 4.
