World class violinist to appear near Cranbury

One of the world’s most famous musicians is set to appear near Cranbury.

Itzhak Perlman, a native of Tel Aviv, Israel, was drawn to the violin after hearing it performed on a radio broadcast at a young age, and hoped to study at the Shulamit Conservatory, starting when he was three. The conservatory refused to accept him, deeming him too small to hold the instrument, so he taught himself to play – this despite having contracted polio at the age of four, affecting his growth and mobility.

He was later accepted into the conservatory and the Academy of Music in Tel Aviv, where he performed his inaugural recital when he was 10 years old. At the age of 13, he moved to the United States in order to study at the famed Julliard School.

Throughout his distinguished career, Perlman has performed mostly as a guest soloist with groups such as the New York Philharmonic and the Israel Philharmonic. He has also joined with other artists such as Isaac Stern, Pinchas Zukerman, Yo-Yo Ma, and the Rolling Stones. His artistry has also been heard in several films, including “Schindler’s List.”

Now aged 75, Perlman will appear at the State Theatre-NJ on Livingston Avenue in New Brunswick, a short drive from Cranbury, on May 6 at 8:00 pm. Poster printing can be used successfully to advertise events like this.
