The 2024 Raritan Native American Heritage Celebration and Pow Wow near Cranbury is expected to attract over 50 performers, vendors, and artists in mid-June.
The Pow Wow is presented by the Red Hawk Native American Arts Council and will feature artisans, educators, singers and dancers from a number of tribes including the Lakota, Cherokee, Mohawk, and Navajo.
The council is an advocate of Native American Heritage, which is celebrated though cultural expression and performance such as stories, theater, and dance. It has been educating audiences about Indigenous culture and history since 1994.
Not only will visitors to the powwow be entertained, but they will also have the opportunity to sample traditional Indigenous cuisine and browse the more than 40 tables selling jewelry and crafts. Vendors at this type of event can attract shoppers to their booths by using flyer printing services available at area printers.
A rain-or-shine event, it will take place at the Middlesex County Fairgrounds about eight miles north of Cranbury. Parking is free and attendees are encouraged to bring their own chairs.
The Raritan Native American Celebration and Pow Wow will be on Saturday, June 15 and Sunday, June 16, from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm. There will be a grand entry of dancers at 1:00 pm and 5:00 pm. Children under five can attend for free. Other information is available online at the Red Hawk Council website.
