Disposing of sensitive documents safely is a concern for many people, but Cranbury has a solution.
Middlesex County’s Department of Solid Waste Management has announced its 2021 Residential Paper Shred Program. This is a free program, but it is limited to residents of Middlesex County, who will be able to recycle their confidential documents securely and safely.
Each vehicle is limited to 100lb or five file Boxes, which must be in manageable containers, not plastic Bags. However, there is no need for residents to remove paperboard binder covers, staples, or paperclips.
The following items will not be accepted, and the whole load might be rejected if they are included: shredded paper, CDs, X-rays, photos, junk mail, hardcover Books, garbage, magazines, and newspapers. Also, the shredding is for residents only, not businesses.
To keep everyone safe, residents will not be allowed to unload their own vehicles. Instead, they are asked to remain in their vehicles, masked, with the windows closed. They should ensure their materials are located in the truck bed, cargo area, or trunk, where volunteers will be able to remove them easily.
The shredding event is scheduled for August 14 at the Cranbury School on North Main Street. The hours are from 9:00 am until 12:00 pm, or until the shredding truck is full, whichever is first. Poster printing can be used to create directional Signs for events like this.
