The New Jersey State Theater will present a performance of the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory musical. The show will no doubt be of interest to nearby Cranbury residents.
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is a musical first performed in the West End in 2013. The book was written by David Grieg, the music was composed by Marc Shaiman, and the lyrics were written by Shaiman and Scott Whitman. In addition, several songs from the 1971 film based on the book are included in the musical. The West End production of the film was nominated for several Lawrence Oliver awards and won two. It also still holds the record for the highest weekly profits in the West End.
As with the original book, the plot revolves around the young, impoverished boy Charlie Bucket. One day, the famous chocolatier Willy Wonka announces that he has hidden five golden tickets in his chocolate bars. Those that find the tickets will get to tour the factory. After winning a ticket, Charlie travels to the factory with four other children and has many adventures within.
The show will have three performances on May 13th, 14th, and 15th at 15 Livingston Avenue New Brunswick, New Jersey. The show is recommended for ages 8 and above. In addition, all patrons must follow the COVID-19 safety guidelines set by the theater. Theaters such as the New Jersey State Theater may be interested in poster printing services to promote the events at their venue.
