The state of New Jersey is 350 years old, and several communities are holding events to celebrate this fact. The Cranbury area is no different and there are at least two celebrations taking place this November.
The first event is the Cranbury Historical and Preservation Society's anniversary celebration. Guests will be treated to a dinner, a program presented by author and NJ historian Linda Barth, a DJ, and dancing. There will also be a silent auction and a New Jersey trivia contest.
After that, the Monmouth County Historical Association Museum and Library in Freehold is presenting the exhibition ‘Farm Agriculture in Monmouth County, 1600 – 2013’. It is expected to show the historical progression of the past 350 years.
Fans of history in Cranbury and surrounding towns will surely want to attend one of more of these events. Local flyer printing companies may help to advertise these, and the other events celebrating the 350th anniversary, or ‘sesquarcentennial’.
The Cranbury dinner will be held at the Cranbury Inn on November 15 beginning at 6:00 pm. Tickets are $60 each. Call 609-860-1889 for more information.
The ‘Farm Agriculture in Monmouth County’ exhibit is on display from November 17 to December 1. The Freehold museum is open Tuesday to Saturday from 10:00 am - 4:00 pm. Admission is $5 or $2.50 for seniors. To learn more about this show, call 732-462-1466.
