Cranbury School official honored

An official at the Cranbury School has been honored for her leadership and guidance during a trying year.

The Middlesex County Association of School Administrators (MCASA) recently honored Susan Genco, who is the principal and superintendent of the Cranbury School, by naming her their 2021 Middlesex County Superintendent of the Year. Genco was honored for the way in which she guided her school through the unprecedented crisis precipitated by the spread of COVID-19.

As the situation unfolded in Spring 2020, schools struggled to find a way to complete the academic year. Like other institutions, the Cranbury School was faced with finding a way to deal with shutting down in-person instruction and replacing it with remote learning.

Genco was instrumental in leading the school to successfully finish its 2019-2020 school year, and then helped prepare and execute plans that would allow the institution to transition into distance learning for the 2020-2021 year.

In accepting the award, Genco also recognized the Cranbury School “family” as well as the Board of Education, adding that she was lucky enough to work with staff, faculty, and an administration that care deeply for the students. Their efforts, she added, made it possible for the facility to come through a particularly challenging year successfully. She also expressed her gratitude for board members who benefit children by volunteering many hours of their time.

The MCASA vote to honor Genco was unanimous. Banner printing can be used to create decorations for special events like this.
