A local girl scout chapter will be hosting a knot tying class this July in Cranbury.
The event is organized to assist local girl scout members with earning their badge. It will focus on basic techniques for tying knots, while gradually advancing to more difficult tie patterns. The workshop is aimed at children between the ages of 10 and 17 years old. The three-day class also permits a co-ed arrangement.
Attendees will also learn the history of knot tying, and the practical uses of the knots they have learned. A longstanding tradition for both the girl and the boy scouts, knotting is a basic survival skill that can be used in everyday life to make difficult tasks simpler. At the end of the lesson, students should be able to demonstrate an understanding of each knot, including its application.
