Three performances of the Broadway musical Waitress will be performed near Cranbury. The New Jersey State Theatre, which is located half an hour from Cranbury, will host the performances.
Waitress is a musical based on the film written by Adrienne Shelly. Pop artist and Grammy winner Sara Bareilles composed the music and lyrics, while Jessie Nelson wrote the script.
The plot of the musical tells the story of a woman who becomes pregnant while married to an abusive husband. She then seeks to escape her unhappy life by having an affair and attempting to win a baking contest.
The first limited run of the musical in Cambridge, Massachusetts, managed to sell out, while a single performance during previews of the Broadway run set a new record for the Brooks Atkinson Theatre at $145,532. In addition, this run made history as the first one to have four women in the top creative spots of the production.
Three of the performances will take place at 8:00 pm on April 14, 15, and 16. There will also be a matinee performance at 2:00 pm on April 16. In addition, ticket purchasers can attend a 45-minute talk at 7:15 pm about screen-to-musical adaptions.
The New Jersey State Theatre is at 15 Livingston Avenue, New Brunswick. Producers like those for Waitress may be interested in Graphic Design Services for their playbooks.
