Although the Montclair Art Museum (MAM) Galleries have reopened, Caldwell art lovers can still enjoy the arts from home by going online for various museum events, workshops, and tours.
On Thursday evenings beginning at 6:00 pm, online viewers are invited to join local contemporary artists in their homes and studios for conversations regarding their works and tours of their studio spaces.
Presented by the Babson Lecture Series, MAM Conversations is a series of Zoom Webinars. Kay WalkingStick will have her presentation on November 5, and Natalie Frank will present on December 3.
Although the online events will be free, viewers must purchase $30 virtual memberships. These memberships not only include the MAM conversations but exclusive in-depth tours of MAM galleries and priority registration for select events and classes. Adult art classes and the MAM Shop will offer discounts.
Free online tours are also available on the museum’s website. Docents give tours and commentary on each collection. Paul Schmitz gives insight into the Gathering Hay in the Salt Marshes Collection by Marin Johnson Heade. Docent Gail Stavitsky presents tours on Rederico Uribe’s Zebras, Tom Nussbaum’s Listen, Old Man’s Afternoon by will Barnet, Nick Cave’s Soundsuit, and Odyssey of the Venutian Soldier by Virgil Ortiz.
Along with purchasing memberships, patrons can further support the arts by purchasing items from the organizations’ gift shops. Many offer items sporting the organization’s graphic design or Logo Design.
Montclair Museum of Art is located at 3 South Mountain Avenue, Montclair.
