Local 4-H Fairs come in late summer

Two New Jersey 4-H county fairs are on the agenda for August and September.

Our own Essex and Hudson Counties 4-H Fair is scheduled for September 16. This is a chance for local 4-H members to showcase their accomplishments.

Amusement rides and games will be available on the midway, and there will be plenty of treats from local vendors. Entertainment is still in the planning stages and will be announced shortly.

Caldwell children have completed their g’ART’bage art projects and entered them in this year’s contest. The g’Art’bage contest is an opportunity for local children from kindergarten to those teens who have recently graduated from high school to create something artistic from non-recyclable trash and single-use plastics.

The fair will be at 621A Eagle Rock Ave, Roseland.

Before that, Passaic County will also have its fair this summer. The event will offer rides, games, food, and fireworks. Live music performances will be on multiple stages and local health organizations will offer health screenings.

Purple ribbon winners at 4-H fairs often have their pictures taken with their projects and ribbons. These pictures usually go to local Print shops for duplicates to send to family and friends.

The Passaic County Fair has been scheduled for August 13 through 16 at Garret Mountain Reservation, Woodland Park. Admission will be free and parking will be $5.
