Healthcare workers honored with charity virtual run

This year’s annual Running with the Devils 5K Run and Walk hosted by RWJBarnabas Health has moved online and will take place in October. All of the proceeds will go to the RWJBarnabas Health’s Emergency Expense Fund.

Caldwell participants must first register at the RWJBarnabvas Health Running with the Devils website. After that, they need to download the RunGo app, which they can find on Apple Store or Google Play.

Runners can run their own routes. However, three courses will be available. The Run with the Devils will be the same route as last year. New Jersey Devils players will be online offering encouragement as the runners run around West Orange’s South Mountain Recreation Complex’s Waterfront. This scenic path will take runners past the playground, boat launch and zoo. In order to clock 3.1 miles, participants must run the course twice. Matt Loughlin, the Devils Radio Announcer will also give out information regarding team history.

Loughlin will also be part of the Run with Our Heroes option as he narrates inspirational stories of local heroes that are helping fight COVID-19 while runners circumnavigate the Orange Reservoir path.

The Run with the Animals course will be a virtual run through the Turtle Back Zoo.

Adult registration will be $25 and incentives include signed New Jersey merchandise sporting the team’s Logo Design and virtual video conference with players.

Running with the Devils begins October 3 from 8:00 until noon, and takes place every day from then until October 25.
