Community amasses duct tape and cardboard for kayak race

The 18th Annual Indian Creek Festival will be holding its annual Cardboard Kayak Race during its two-day run scheduled for mid-September.

As always, the kayaks will be constructed by two-member teams using only duct Tape and cardboard. Winners in contests such as this often like to have pictures taken of themselves and what’s left of their craft. These can go to local Print shops for duplicates to be made for family and friends.

Other activities will include a dog race, pet parade and a free movie. Car enthusiasts may be interested in the car cruise and car show. There will be a sock-hop at the plaza and a fireman’s breakfast. Caldwell Fine arts will be holding that chalk contest and Caldwell Boosters will be racing ducks.

On Saturday, local vendors, artists and craftspeople will be found at the marketplace. Local merchants and businesses will have products and services for sale while local non-profits will be passing out information regarding their missions, programs and services. Food trucks and food sellers will be hawking summer treats and there will be a Farm to Fork Farmers’ Market.

The 18th Annual Indian Creek Festival has been slated for Friday evening September 18 from 6:00 pm until 10:00 pm and Saturday, September 19 from 7:00 am until 4:00 pm in Downtown Caldwell.
