A couple of towns around Caldwell will be holding their annual St. Patrick’s Day parades before the traditional date of March 17.
Nearby, Nutley Irish American Association will have its 41st parade on Saturday, March 7 beginning at 1:00 pm on Franklin Avenue in Nutley. Units in parades like this get their banner printing done early so they will be ready to display introductory Banners in the parades.
This year’s dignitaries will be Karen Smith as Grand Marshal, Brian Blum as Deputy Grand Marshal, Parade Queen Erin Baker, Dan Kane as Member of the Year, and Detective Robert McDermott is the Police Officer of the Year.
The Grand Marshal Dinner is scheduled for February 8 from 7:00 pm until 11:00 pm at the Brownstone, 351 West Broadway, Paterson. The evening will begin with cocktails, followed by dinner and McLean Avenue Band.
West Orange will begin its 69th annual St. Paddy’s Day parade at 12:15 pm on Sunday, March 15. Units will step off at the intersection of Main Street and Mr. Pleasant Avenue, continue north on Main and disband in front of Our Lady of Lourdes Church.
This year’s Parade Chairman will be Kevin Brennan; Grand Marshal will be Mellen Dangler; Deputy Grand Marshals will be John DeMars, Bobby Lamb, Patrick Giblin, and Robert Swenson. Investiture will be February 16 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Main Street at the Oak Barrel. Tickets will be $65 and include live entertainment and a light buffet.
