Caldwell goes green

Caldwell residents interested in improving their carbon footprint can get ideas for living green at Verona’s 4th Annual Green Fair coming in mid-May. The fair will be free.

Live music will entertain the crowds as families and children go from one activity to another with stops that will include arts and crafts. Over 30 local vendors like Cheese Between and Ice Cream Thai’m, will be selling treats, and Montclair Community Farms will be selling fresh produce. Other local vendors will be hawking merchandise.

Many local and out-of-town non-profit organizations will have members manning booths giving out information about their services and missions. Green organizations will have live demonstrations and exhibits on topics such as health, nutrition and solar installation. Many of them, including gardening businesses and clubs, will have representatives on site to discuss ways to keep our environment sustainable.

Green businesses will also be displaying their goods and services. Guests will want to accumulate Business Cards from these businesses for referral later.

A shredding truck will be there so everyone can shred those old bills, documents, and other unneeded paper. Attendees can also bring their expired Rx drugs for the Rx Drug Drop and a few nonperishable food items for the food drive.

This event will be held outside at Verona’s Civic Center Square, 600 Bloomfield Avenue, on Saturday, May 19 from 11:00 am until 4:00 pm. The rain date is the following day.
