New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) will be presenting a virtual discussion by jazz greats Dianne Reeves and John Beasley, and virtual City Verses: Jazz and Poetry in April.
On April 13 at 7:00 pm, a NJPAC jazz series livestream chat will be held on Facebook between Jazz Master and Grammy award winner jazz songstress Dianne Reeves and Emmy-nominated multi-Grammy winner, pianist John Beasley. The two will reminisce about their early ‘80s LA experiences together.
Mark Gross, director and jazz instructor has curated with Master of Fine Arts poets Evan Cutts and Attorious Renee Augustin to create an evening of blues combined with poetry revealing surprising meaning and dimension. Some featured musicians will be jazz teaching faculty Jordan Pettay, Jarrett Walser, and Jebediah Patton.
This poetry and jazz program will be aired Friday, April 16 and again Friday, April 23 at 7:00 pm. Registration is required and a Zoom link will be sent by email with confirmation.
Evan Cutts and Attorius Renee Augustin are also offering a free virtual poetry workshop for teens on Wednesdays, April 14 and 21 at 3:00 pm. They will discuss the connection between jazz and poetry. This, too, will be on Zoom. Registration is required and confirmation will be sent by e-mail.
