Caldwell area to be treated to spring plant sale

Growing tomatoes at home can be made a lot easier by using plant starts, and those who attend a fundraiser that will be held in the Caldwell area will have easy access to some right in their own backyard.

Those who enjoy homemade tomato sauce with freshly harvested herbs may especially appreciate the fundraiser, which is scheduled for Crane House and Historic YWCA in Montclair. It will be open for four days or until all the plants have sold, and there may also be other vegetable starts in the mix.

People will be able to purchase a wide selection of species and cultivars, and the herbs will be grown using organic methods. Montclair Community Farms has been invited to join the fun, and will be supplying vegetable transplants. These can be ordered ahead of time for pick up, and there are many varieties, including heritage cultivars, available.

A pop-up horticulture market will often attract plenty of attention. Supplying the shoppers with plant lists along with promotional Pens will make it easy for them to make sure they do not miss any, and can make any notes they wish.

This shortcut to a great tomato, herb, and vegetable garden will take place from May 4 to May 7. Each day will begin at 9:00 am, and it will be held at 110 Orange Road.
