Essex County’s annual Strut Your Mutt Canine Halloween Costume Contest will be returning at the end of the month.
The event actually takes place at four locations. The first two parades will be on October 19. The morning one will be at the Essex County Hilltop Dog Park on Courter Lane in North Caldwell. Registration will begin at 9:15 am and the parade will begin at 10:00 am.
Later that afternoon, at Essex County Branch Brook Dog Park near Heller Parkway at Branch Brook Park West, another dog costume parade will take place. Registration will begin at 1:15 pm with the parade following at 2:00 pm. The rain date for these two activities will October 20.
The two other parades will be on October 26 with a rain date the following day. Registration for the parade at Essex County Brookdale Park Dog Park on Grove Street in Montclair will begin at 9:15 am with the parade starting at 10:00 am.
The afternoon dog festivities will be at Essex County South Mountain Dog Park at Crest Drive in Maplewood/Milburn. Registration will start at 1:15 pm and the parade will step off at 2:00 pm. Entry in all parades will be free and there will be prizes.
Owners of winning dogs at event such as these often have their pictures taken with their pets to commemorate their achievements. These pictures are then taken to local Print shops to have Copies made for friends and relatives.
