Freedom in motion at local aquarium

Freedom, a zebra shark born last year at the Concord Mills Sea Life Aquarium in Concord, has finally grown large and strong enough to meet her adoring public.

On Friday, July 10, Freedom posed for photos after being wheeled out in a cooler and placed in a kiddie pool. Once the photo session was done, she was free to see, and be seen by, the public as she swam about the Stingray Bay exhibit.

Sea Life General Manager Dalia Goldgor explained that Freedom is big enough to hold her own with the “big fish” in the regular population. Last year, Freedom came into the world only sixteen inches long, but now measures four feet from snout to tail. When fully grown, she will be six to seven feet in length.

So far, the young zebra shark has made a big splash with families who can easily view her in the Stingray Bay exhibit. According to Goldgor, Freedom can serve as an ambassador of sorts, and a counterpoint to the bad press sharks have been getting with the recent shark attacks along the North Carolina coast.

Brochure printers can be of valuable assistance for venues such as Sea Life as they attempt to educate the public about the generally amiable nature of sharks, and inform of goings-on at the aquarium.
