Concord looks for community input on master plan for park

A master plan is being developed by the city of Concord for W.W. Flowe Park.

W.W. Flowe Park is in the southern part of the city and covers 44 acres. It currently offers a large, undeveloped multi-use field; a playground area; a baseball complex with four fields, press box, and concessions; several small shelters; a trail system for walking; and volleyball courts. The city has operated and done programming for the park for many years, but ownership of the park was transferred to Cabarrus County in 2021.

The city is looking for feedback from the community on the latest conceptual plan and provide input through a survey to help refine the plan and determine the future developments and renovations at the park. This will help the city to create a fresh vision for the park.

Local Print shops often assist with efforts to provide printed materials with more details about such proposed plans to inform residents when completing such surveys.

The city of Concord adopted a Comprehensive Parks and Recreation Master Plan in 2016 to better serve the growing population of the city and to provide greater access to public facilities. Since then, the city has adopted seven master plans for its parks and activity centers and has set aside one cent of the property tax rate for such developments and improvements to parks and other facilities.

The survey will close on Friday, January 6.
