The Ritchie family went to the Concord City Council to request that it permits banquet homes in the city’s residential areas after unsuccessful attempts at selling the house. For the Ritchie siblings – Heath, Robert, and Doug Ritchie and Beth Alm – it was a last ditch effort to save their historic Victorian-style home.

In response, the Concord City Council decided that banquet homes would be allowed with the issuance of special use permits.

The term ‘banquet home’ refers to a historic home used as a small banquet facility. Corporate retreats, as well as any event that one would consider holding in one’s own home, assuming it was grand enough, are perfect occasions to rent one.
