World Oceans Day swims into Charlotte

This month, individuals who want to learn more about the ocean are in for a treat.

Discovery Place Museum is hosting a ‘World Oceans Day’ event where guests can talk to polar bear and ocean experts. There will also be opportunities to examine marine mammal skulls and view some ocean creatures in the ‘Explore More Life’ lab. Author Dr. Alan Rausch will be signing his book ‘Dolphins’ too.

The event is included with the cost of admission to the Discovery Place Museum. Ticket prices are $15 for adults and $12 for both seniors and children, while museum members get in free. Along with the ‘Ocean’ event, patrons can visit various hands-on exhibits, watch a 3D movie, or take part in one of the interactive shows.

Observed on June 8th, World Oceans Day is a global event that encourages people to think about the ocean as an important natural resource that needs to be protected. In order to raise awareness, individuals can host or attend an event. Many events will inform people on how to keep the ocean clean and healthy.

The event kicks off on June 7th from 10:00am until 5:00pm. It’s likely local printing services in Charlotte have been asked to make various promotional handouts for the educational occasion. Discovery Place is located at 301 North Tryon Street.
