New self storage building coming to Charlotte

A one acre empty lot in Charlotte will be the new home for a six-storey tall mixed use building that will house, among other businesses, self storage units.

The new structure will contain a total of 126,000 square feet of floor space, and provide room for offices, retail establishments and even perhaps a small eatery. These will all be located on the ground floor, which is mandated by the city for developments of this type.

The construction phase of the project will begin in the fourth quarter of this year. The developer who will be undertaking the build has not been named, but it has been responsible for building other structures of a similar nature at West Morehead Street and Central Avenue. Graphic design can be used to create Signs that can be used in new businesses such as this.

Permission for this development has come about because of a change in policy by the city so that it now allows self-storage units on properties zoned for mixed use developments. In order to be approved, the plan must include a provision that the ground floor level be at least 50 percent dedicated to uses that are considered “active” such as retail, café, restaurant or offices spaces.

This new building will be located on Seventh Street in Charlotte, near a condominium complex and Interstate 277.
