Local university hosts masquerade gala

Charlotte locals can enjoy a night out while supporting a good cause later this month.

The Alumni Association for the University of North Carolina (UNC) at Charlotte is hosting the 2015 Green Tie Gala, a fundraiser that will raise money for the Dr. Davis scholarship fund. UNC alumni, along with other interested individuals, are invited to attend.

The event will have a masquerade theme, live entertainment, and dancing. Guests should wear evening attire and a mask, with the best mask receiving an award. Simple masks will be provided to those who request one during the registration process.

Other highlights include street performers, such as fire dancers, and a video booth. Guests will be treated to a meal and dessert. There will also be a beer and wine bar. During the event, attendees can vote for the theme for next year’s gala. No doubt Stationery printers have created ballots for this purpose.

During the event, there will be a mystery box fundraiser. For $49, guests can purchase a box but they will not know what is inside. The value of the contents will range from $50 to in excess of $800.

Registration costs $75 per person, or $70 for both UNC Charlotte Young Alumni and Gold perks members.

The gala will take place on April 17 from 6:30 pm until 9:30 pm, held at Byron's South End, located on 101 West Worthington Avenue.
