The Pinewood Derby has been part of the Scouting program for many years, and it lets kids see what they can build using their own two hands. The Charlotte Community ToolBank wishes to lend it support to this initiative, and has chosen to do so by hosting a build day at its South Tryon Street location.
All the tools needed to create a customize racer will be available for the registrants to use during the event, and volunteers will be on site to lend a hand and help guide the young people as they work on their own car. Racer kits will be available for purchase by any child who needs one, and each boy or girl will need to have a parent or other adult guardian with them.
Each of the scouts who wishes to be a part of this event can book their own time slot, and these will start every 30 minutes. The tools, paint, weights and other materials will all be available for the children to use, and they are encouraged to get creative.
By giving youngsters an opportunity to create a project, this sort of event can help to build their confidence in themselves. Instruction sheets, labels and other items for the kits that are sold during a function like this can be prepared well ahead of the afternoon by local Stationery printers.
The Charlotte Community ToolBank will be welcoming area junior automotive engineers for this special event on February 1st. Slots are now open for booking at $15.00 each.
