Charlotte locals can take part in a winter trail race.
Runners can choose to participate in a 4, 9 or 13-mile event. The race will take place along the trails at the US Whitewater Center, and all of them will begin in the parking lot.
After the races, participants will be treated to refreshments. Those participating in the 13-mile race will be given a medal, with award ceremonies to follow.
Registration costs $35 for the 4-mile, $45 for the 9-mile, and $55 for the 13-mile race. On race day, the price will increase by $5. No doubt a flyer printing service has been asked to create handouts to promote this event.
Packets can be picked up at the Charlotte Running Company (CRC) in Dilworth on January 15. On January 16, participants can go to the CRC at the Promenade on Providence. On both days, collection time is from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm.
The US Whitewater Center offers outdoor recreation such as whitewater rafting and rock climbing. Guests can also mountain bike, run, or hike on its extensive trail system. It also has summer camps and a concert series.
The action starts on January 17 with race day registration at 7:30 am. The 13 and 9-mile races begin at 9:00 am and the 4-mile starts at 9:30 am. The US Whitewater Center is located on 5000 Whitewater Center Parkway.
