Charlotte goes wild for story time

Kids, and their parents, can enjoy story time and an activity at the Charlotte Nature Museum next week.

First, there will be a read aloud session of ‘The Mixed-Up Chameleon’ by Eric Carle. After the story, children can make a crafted chameleon themselves.

The event is part of a 'Wild Wednesday' series at the nature museum. Often, the series involves a story and activity, and sometimes an animal will make a guest appearance. Along with this series, the museum offers plenty of animal interactions, live shows, and even birthday parties.

The Charlotte Nature Museum encourages kids to learn through nature and use their imaginations. Exhibits feature butterflies, insects, and native creatures. Hands-on areas include ‘Our Big Backyard', ‘Fort Wild’, and Peetie’s Place exhibit.

Tickets cost $8 per person but kids aged under two are free of charge. Museum members can get in free; memberships are $50 for individuals and $100 for families.

Postcard printing is one way museums often promote sessions like Wild Wednesdays. Sending a direct mailer out to the community will inform Charlotte residents about the kid-friendly events the museum has to offer. Along with the story time details and a colorful graphic, the postcard could mention the museum’s hours, admission prices, and address.

The story time takes place on August 20 at 12:30 pm in the Naturalist Lab. The museum is located on 1658 Sterling Road.
