Charlotte goes green for special event

Charlotte locals can attend a festive Irish event later this month, as the 19th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Charlotte Goes Green Festival comes to town.

The parade will likely feature bands, music groups, floats, and drill teams. Various community groups will also be participating. The parade’s Grand Marshall will be Dr. R. John Young, an Honorary Consul of Ireland for North Carolina.

The Charlotte St. Patrick’s Day Parade Foundation, a nonprofit group, is responsible for organizing this event. In the past, tens of thousands of spectators have attended.

After the parade, attendees can head over to the free festival where there will be refreshments, a special kids’ area, and vendors. Throughout the day, the festival will have live performances, including Irish dancing and several Irish and Celtic bands. During the festival, parade contest winners will also be announced.

To promote a large event such as this, no doubt printing companies have been busy creating materials like Flyers and Postcards to distribute around the Charlotte community.

The parade will begin on March 14 at 11:00 am, while the festival will take place from 10:00 am until 6:00 pm. The parade will start on North Tryon Street and 9th Street and the festival will be held between 3rd and Stonewall Street.
