As many home gardeners can attest, getting growing is not always a thrifty pastime, but an upcoming working workshop will show them how they can trim their plant purchasing bills.
Charlotte’s McMillan Greenhouse has scheduled a plant propagation class. It will explore various ways home horticulturalists can increase the number of plants they currently have, and these techniques may also prove helpful to anyone who is interested in taking their gardening to the next level by developing their own cultivars or named varieties.
The short course will introduce the basics of methods such as rooting cuttings, air layering, and seed germination. More advanced technique – including mound layering, budding, grafting, and division – will also be taught to the group, which will be encouraged to ask questions. Tickets are $75 each, and the class will be a daylong activity. There are enough seats for up to 20 learners, and they are expected to fill up fast.
Plant lovers are often interested in learning some new techniques they can use in their own garden. Handouts for an activity, as well as an assortment of themed Promotional Products, can be ordered from a printing services company.
This chance to brush up on plant propagation for the home gardener will be on offer on June 3. It will begin at 9:00 am at 9090 Crave Road.
