Charlotte celebrates fall in the great outdoors

The U.S. National Whitewater Center in Charlotte is hosting a Fall Finale later this week.

The event begins with a 12K and 5K 'Dirty Obstacle Trail Race', with plenty of challenges and dirt along the way. Until October 8, registration costs $35 for the 5K, $45 for the 12K, or $60 for both. On race day, all registration prices increase $10. After the race, there will be refreshments, raffles, and awards.

Then, there will be a '4th Annual Build Your Own Boat' (BYOB) Competition and Race where individuals can make a vessel and then race it down the center’s whitewater channel. Until October 8, registration costs $30 for this event or $40 on race day. On October 9 at 4:00 pm and 8:00 pm, there will be mandatory check-ins and float tests for the vessels.

After the competitions have concluded, guests can stay for live entertainment and cider sampling. It is likely the event organizers used a banner printing service to create large Signs to welcome guests to the festival.

It all takes place on October 10, beginning with race day registration at 6:30 am. The 12K kicks off at 7:30 am, followed by the 5K at 10:00 am. The BYOB Competition begins at noon. Finally, music and cider sampling starts at 4:00 pm.

The U.S. National Whitewater Center is located on 5000 Whitewater Center Parkway.
