Post-autism diagnosis workshop planned for Charlotte

When a child is first diagnosed as having Asperger’s syndrome, PDD-NOS or another condition on the autism spectrum, it can be a scary time for his or her parents and extended family, and a Charlotte workshop has been organized that will explain the diagnosis and what it can mean for a child.

The Autism Society of North Carolina’s Charlotte Office will be hosting a workshop that will provide details about what an autism diagnosis means and what to expect. Geared for those who have a child aged eight or younger, it will provide a wealth of information to those who participate.

Those who attend the learning session will discover more about the different physical, developmental, social, and communication issues that go along with autism, and also the different Forms the group of conditions can take. The facilitators will share information about the options that exist both at school and in the local community to help their child, and also how families can access the resources and other supports they may need now and in the future. A printing services provider will be able to both design and then produce workbooks, parent or caregiver Journals, and other educational materials for this type of function.

This workshop will be taking place in the offices of the Autism Society of NC, which is located at 8420 University Executive Park Drive on December 21. It is free to participate.
