City Officials in Charlotte have high hopes for the revitalization of the vacant Eastland Mall. Late last month, the city opened the mall to various developers in hopes of transforming the site and revitalizing the area.
The city purchased the mall in August of 2012 for a sum of $13.2m. Officials hope to partner with a developer and possibly turn the area into movie studios. The tour of the Eastland Mall last month served as a chance for developers to view the area and decide if the old mall could be restored or if it should be demolished. Steve Smith, who is with SHM Partners of Los Angeles, a developer that is considering the restoration and transformation of the mall into sound stages and studios, stated:
“We could use the food service area and maybe the theater. The department stores might be used for offices.”
Other developers, however, expressed their opinion that perhaps the area could be transformed into traditional stores and offices.
If city officials are able to work with a developer in the area to revitalize the old Eastland Mall, it is likely that new businesses will crop up in the area and existing businesses will receive new life. As increased businesses moves into the area, Print companies are likely to be called upon for a range of printing services, such as business card printing or banner printing to announce grand openings or special promotions.
Regardless of whether the vacant mall is turned into movie studios, retail stores, or used for another purpose, there is little doubt that the revitalization of the old building will translate into business growth for the area.Get a Free Quote for Print
