Charlotte Santa makes a difference for local kids

A young boy from Charlotte was recently given a chance to visit with a holiday celebrity.

Six-year-old Brayden Deely, who is autistic, tends to be very shy around people he does not know, and the amount of sensory input that can sometimes accompany holiday celebrations can prove to be overwhelming to him. According to his mother Erin, she had thought that a visit with Santa was something he would never be able to have.

Luckily, the SouthPark Mall in Charlotte was hosting a special event for children with different issues. Called ‘A Magical Visit From Caring Santa’, the program allowed these kids to have a chance to meet him in a quieter and slower paced environment and even have their pictures taken with him, all before the mall was even open for the day.

Families could make an appointment, and have the time they needed to make it a success for their child. A Stationery printing company can create special autism-themed Booklets that have a social story in it about meeting Santa, which can be given to the kids who participate.

When Brayden went to meet St. Nick, he was really nervous, but Santa knew what to do. He got down on the ground with him, and they interacted on a level Brayden was comfortable with. His mother remarked that she was really thrilled with the experience and is grateful for her son to have had such a positive time.
