Charlotte locals can get some exercise while supporting a good cause.
The 3rd Annual Fight the Flame 5K will raise awareness and support research for Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy. The chip-timed race will take runners on a course through a park and around a lake. Walkers, strollers, and dogs are welcome to participate. After the race, participants can hang out at the race village.
Gift cards to Omega Sports will be given to the top three male and female finishers overall, and also to the top male and female participants in each age group. There will also be finisher’s certificates available to download on the race website.
Registration costs $30 or $40 on race day. Online registration ends on October 31. Proceeds from the event will go to the Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy Syndrome Association.
Packet pickup will take place on October 31 from noon until 3:00 pm at Omega Sports, located on 8036 Providence Road. During packet pickup, race shirts will be available on a ‘first come, first served’ basis. A Stationery printing service was likely used to create packets and promotional materials for the race.
It all takes place on November 1 at McAlpine Creek Park, located on 8711 Monroe Road. The race kicks off at 8:00 am. Race day registration and packet pickup will take place from 6:45 am until 7:45 am.
